Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran broke the record for most runs by a pair in a single T20 World Cup edition during the Super Eight match against Bangladesh at St Vincent Kingstown on Tuesday.
The duo surpassed the previous record of 411 runs compiled by Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan in the 2021 edition held in the UAE.
The Afghanistan opener registered his fourth 50-match partnership in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the most 50-match partnership in a single edition. The pair also equaled the Afghanistan record for most stands of 50 or more for any wicket, matching the feats of Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai.
