“Towards the end of Afghanistan’s batting innings, Mushfiqur sustained an injury to the tip of his left index finger while keeping wicket,” team physio Delowar Hossain said in a BCB statement. “Post-match X-rays confirmed a fracture to his index finger near the DIP joint on his left side. He is being managed conservatively and will be unavailable for the second and third ODIs. Further updates on his condition and expected recovery period can be found at: Of course it will be provided.”
After sustaining an injury, Mushfiqur dropped to number seven as Bangladesh lost their last eight wickets for just 23 runs. He was in trouble for one out of three balls.
With Bangladesh scheduled to tour West Indies later this month for a multi-format tour comprising two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is, Mushfiqur’s finger injury also leaves a question mark over his availability for Tests and ODIs . He retired from T20Is in 2022.
After the Afghanistan ODI on November 11, Bangladesh will fly to the Caribbean for tour games in Coolidge from November 15 before the first Test begins in North Sound on November 22. They are yet to name their squad for the West Indies tour. .
