Savannah, Georgia; Local police say one person was killed Sunday night in a small plane crash in a residential neighborhood in Savannah, Georgia.
The Savannah Police Department said in a brief statement that officers were dispatched to the scene of the crash on East 66th Street, about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) south of the city’s Historic Landmark District.
“The pilot was killed and the passenger suffered minor injuries,” Savannah police told
The Savannah Firefighters Union posted on Facebook that the crash occurred just before 10 p.m. The Savannah Professional Firefighters Association posted a photo of the plane crashing to the ground in front of a home.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known. Police said the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
