Toronto police say a security guard working near rap superstar Drake’s home near Bridal Path was seriously injured in a shooting early Tuesday morning.
Prosecutor Paul Krawczyk told reporters the shooting happened around 2 a.m. outside the door of a home on Park Lane Circle, near Bayview and Lawrence avenues.
“The person was obviously working as a security guard at the house,” Krawczyk said.
“He was standing outside the front gate of the residence at the time of the shooting.”
Krawczyk said he could not confirm whether Drake was home at the time of the incident. He noted that police were in contact “with his team” and were “cooperating” with investigators.
The security guard was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said in an update Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they have collected some video evidence that captured the shooting, but will not release additional details about the suspect or a description of the vehicle due to “video quality issues.”
“As we have the information and can better analyze the video, we will be able to provide more information,” Krawczyk said.
He said “individuals” were seen in the vehicle but did not specify how many.
The shooting comes amid an ongoing feud between Drake and rapper Kendrick Lamar, but Krawczyk would not comment on whether it was related to Tuesday’s shooting.
“I know what you’re talking about,” Krawczyk said.
“However, as the investigation is in its early stages, there is no motive at this time. So I can’t comment further on that.”
