Anyone familiar with the way Liverpool do business in the transfer market will know how important data plays a role.
The Reds have Michael Edwards and Ian Graham to thank for the reality following the FSG takeover.
However, from that point on, the process improved and evolved significantly, allowing the club to find the ideal replacement for Jurgen Klopp.
“(William) Spearman, a Chicago-born, Harvard-educated physicist, succeeded Graham as the club’s head of research in January last year after five years as Liverpool’s chief data scientist, and is developing algorithms to assess coaching performance across a range of areas. . We use a variety of metrics, including not only team performance, but also play style, individual player development, and compatibility with different types of players to predict future outcomes and suitability for specific classes.” James Pearce and Oliver Kay report for The Athletic.
“It is said that Slot’s goals, which reflect his performance during his three seasons in charge of Feyenoord, were blindingly impressive. “Top of the Top”. Hughes and Edwards have already discussed Slot as a strong contender. “But they didn’t expect the data to support his candidacy so strongly.”
Arne Slot is set to officially begin his career at Liverpool Football Club on 1 June.

A return to a company like Michael Edwards and Co., which has the biggest say in what comes in and what goes out, can only breed success.
