Despite what you may have heard buzzing through the grapevine, the 115 charges against Manchester City accusing it of breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules are still on the table. Yes, whispering that everything is falling? Not true.
Now you might be wondering where this whole conversation started. Some comments from Premier League CEO Richard Masters seem to be spreading the rumours. Last week he mentioned at a European Leagues Group press conference that a hearing was imminent but that he could not share specific details. “This case will be resolved in the near future,” he said.
But according to Mail Sport’s Mike Keegan, the case is far from over. He quickly dismissed the rumor on social media platform
The fee itself is quite heavy. We are talking about the complete list from 2009 to 2018. This includes 54 charges of failing to keep financial information up to date and 14 charges of failing to keep track of payments to players and managers.
It’s worth noting that Manchester City isn’t the only club feeling the heat. Everton and Nottingham Forest have both been deducted points for FFP mistakes this season. This is especially true for Forest, who are barely out of the relegation zone.
