Bill Maher has called for stand-up comedian Louis CK to be allowed to return to mainstream entertainment following a sexual harassment scandal at the height of the #MeToo movement.
“Isn’t it time for everyone to say, ‘Okay, it wasn’t great, but it’s been long enough and welcome back.’ Enough!” Maher said in a new episode of his podcast ‘Club Random’.
“I mean, it’s not the end of the world,” Maher told comedian Bill Burr during a conversation about cancel culture.

“People have done much worse and gotten less,” Maher told Burr. “There is no rhyme or reason to #MeToo-type punishments.”

Burr also argued that cancel culture is no longer a relevant cultural force.
“It started off as something everyone could agree on, but it soon got out of control,” Burr said of the beginnings of cancel culture.
“I remember whenever cancel culture got to the point of, ‘I don’t like some of the topics in your stand-up act,’ right? That’s when things got weird,” he said.
But Burr declared that cancel culture was “over” and that “nobody cares anymore.”
“That’s not true,” Maher said. “Any one of us could be canceled in the next two minutes.”
Maher spoke out against cancel culture several times during her career.
In 2023, Maher said he had lost a lot of ‘Super Wake’ fans who disagreed with his political views. As a progressive, Maher often ridicules what he sees as left-wing excesses.
“Don’t let a door hit you in the street,” the comedian said. “You were no fun to begin with. You have a terrible sense of humor.”
