The British government has long criticized China for imposing a harsh national security law on Hong Kong, a former British territory, starting in 2020.
Earlier this year, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrew Mitchell said Hong Kongers’ rights and freedoms had been “deliberately violated” by the bill.
