India 122 to win for 6 (Harmanpreet 39, Ghosh 24, Marufa 2-24, Rabeya 2-28). Bangladesh 68 for 7 (Dilhara 21, Deepti 2-13, Asha 2-18) 56 runs via DLS method.
Bangladesh made three changes in their playing XI for the third match but never gave chase on a poor surface. After Deepti handed her first breakthrough for India with the wicket of Murshida Khatun in the fourth over, she went on to dismiss Dilhara Akter (21/25). Rubia Haider (17/13) was also dropped after a mix-up with captain Nigar Sultana in the eighth over.
Asha’s maiden wicket was Sultana’s precious scalp. Sultana couldn’t read the googles on the stump and she ended up getting stuck. The legspinner added one more wicket when he dismissed Shorna Akter, before the batsman miscued a slope-sweep that Richa Ghosh was caught on the leading edge. Asha finished her quota of three overs with figures of 2 for 18.
Bangladesh’s batting collapse continued to plague them in the series, as they slipped from 38 for 47 to 6 for 47, losing the plot and the game.
The duo, who put on 44, took just 28 balls for the fourth wicket. Harmanpreet picked up the pace after Mandhana was dismissed, hitting five fours to take his score from 8 to 39 off 10 off 26 balls. Ghosh hit 24 off 15 balls and three fours and a six as India accumulated 52 runs in the last five overs. Despite several shots going off the edge, India scored quickly to set a clear target in just 14 overs.
India will be looking to sweep the series when they play for the final on May 9.
