Chuck Harris led the road with 20 points, Matt Cross scored the second consecutive double double with 15 and 14 rebounds, and SMU scored 76-65 victory over Carl in Dallas on Wednesday night.
The SMU (16-5, 7-3 large coastal conference) won the fifth victory in six games. BJ Edwards (15 points, 9 rebounds) and BOOPIE MILLER (13 points) also contributed to Mustang.
CAL (11-10, 4-6) saw the end of the three wins. Rytis Petraitis has a golden bear in 18 points and 10 rebounds. Jeremiah Wilkinson added 16 points and Jovan Blacksher Jr. scored 13 points.
Golden Bears, who played in the third consecutive game without the scorer Andrej Stojakovic, has built 21-17 leads for the first 13 minutes.
However, the SMU recorded 16-3 runs in one quarter, emphasized in three-fourth pointer. When Mustang left 33-24 leads, 2:36 left, Harris and Cross each made two deep balls.
Miller scored three points later, and the sixth Trey led 39-29 in half of Mustang. SMU stayed in front of the second half.
Mustang used 6-0 runs to 53-40 to the left of 13:43, and passed from Harris to Kario Oquendo’s two-handed ALLEY-OOOOP DUNK.
CAL has doubled its gaps to 6 points, including pulling within 61-55. But it is close enough for visitors to get.
SMU was sealed late. CROSS’s driving ray up extended the lead to 73-63 to 1:12, and then combined Miller and Edwards to create three of four free throws at the last minute.
SMU has been improved 3-1 in the same series as CAL. This scored the first match between the first conference game and the 2014 NIT semi -finals.
SMU hosts Stanford and Cal, both teams on Saturdays.
