Half-centuries from Matt Hurst and James Coles rebuilt the Lions innings after they had slipped to 21 for four before the tail opened, despite Jem Ryan and Sam Elliott claiming three wickets.
The Lions innings was in trouble when Elliott struck twice from as many balls to remove Hamza Shaikh and James Rew to leave the tourists down for 4 inside nine overs.
Opener Ben McKinney was hit by Hurst and Coles for 47.
Hurst went down the wicket and was adjudged leg-bound before Coles fired Elliott to the leg.
