Lego’s awesome Super Mario World building set is available at a discounted price on Amazon. Normally $130, the The 1,215-piece pixelated model of Mario and Yoshi can be purchased for $117.52.. The caveat here is that Amazon departures from Japan will take longer to arrive. That said, it’s the exact same kit and you can get it with free shipping and purchase it from Amazon’s US store.
Considering that Lego Mario & Yoshi was released in October but has yet to receive a discount from US-based retailers, Amazon’s import edition deal is definitely worth considering. Earlier this month, this same listing dropped to around $120 before shooting back up to full price, so I don’t expect this offer to stick around for long. Amazon’s regular US listing for LEGO Mario & Yoshi is sold out. If you want a set sooner, Walmart and Best Buy have them in stock at full price. However, if you’re a My Best Buy Plus/Total member, you’ll only pay $117.

LEGO Super Mario World: Mario and Yoshi is a 1,215-piece set that truly captures the pixelated aesthetic of the Super Nintendo era. It’s a fun build and fitting display piece for any Super Mario fan, especially those with a love for the 16-bit character designs.
The finished model measures 15.5 x 10 x 4 inches and features several interactive components. There is a dial behind Yoshi’s head with his tongue extending out. A crank on the side of the base creates more elaborate animations. Yoshi’s legs move to make it look like he’s running. Adding to the illusion is the quick bouncing movement of the figure. Yoshi’s head moves inches back and forth, and Mario’s cape swings gently, just like it does in the game.
It also has an action tag, so if you own one of the adventures with the LEGO Super Mario Starter Course, the interactive figures (Mario, Luigi or Peach) will react.
Lego did a great job making the instructions easy to follow. I used a combination of a physical instruction booklet and the LEGO Builder app on my iPad. The square pieces used to create the “pixel art” are numbered in the booklet, which was very helpful to me as someone with color blindness.
Although it’s technically part of LEGO’s 18+ “adult” line, kids won’t have any problems with the set at 1,000 pieces.
