Gabby Logan’s rugby star son looks set to lead England to play for Scotland. Even Gary Barlow’s 6ft2 son Reuben Logan spoiled the choice of which country to represent due to his family’s mixed heritage at 6ft5 top.
England, Wales and Scotland were his choices and he initially chose the former. Reuben’s Yorkshire-born mum is the daughter of Welsh football legend Terry Yorath, while his dad Kenny was a Scottish rugby union hero who earned 70 caps. He has represented England at U18 level and was part of the U20 training squad just a few months ago.
But the back row forward, who plays for Northampton Saints at club level, appears to have decided to follow in his dad’s footsteps after being named in Scotland’s U20 squad for the Six Nations campaign.
After starting at Wasps Academy, Reuben moved to Northampton almost two years ago. He joined his famous parents’ contract and said:
Meanwhile, an thrilled Kenny told Planet Rugby at the time: “I just want Reuben to enjoy his journey. He’s had a great opportunity at a fantastic club and rugby is a great sport. It’s a different world than when I played, but I always tell Reuben, ‘Just go for it and express yourself.’”
Reuben made his debut for the club as a substitute against Cambridge in the Premier League Cup in September 2023. He made his first start in the same competition against Nottingham in November 2024.
The 19-year-old, who has a twin sister called Lois, is now pushing his progress further through Scotland’s youth ranks. Following the squad announcement, Scotland U20 coach Kenny Murray said: “We all know that Leuven has qualified for Scotland through his dad.
“He was involved in the establishment of England and was associated with Northampton Saints. Pete Walton (Traditional Manager for Scotland Qualified Performance Players in the United States) is tracking all Scotland Qualified players.
“There is an opportunity for him to come into our environment. We were watching him and liked what we saw. So we’ll bring him in and we’ll take a look at him. “Scotland U20 begin their Six Nations campaign against Italy on Friday 31 January.
