Andrew Flintoff’s 16-year-old son Rocky scored a quick century for England Lions against a Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane.
Flintoff junior, who signed his first professional contract with Lancashire in June, hit nine fours and six sixes in his 127-ball 108 and batted at number 9 to put the four-day match in favor of the Lions.
His father, in his first tour as Lions coach, watched his son lift the Lions from 161 for 7 to 319 for a first-innings lead of 105 on the second day.
Cricket Australia XI were 33 for 1 on a close trail of 72 runs with nine wickets remaining.
In the hosts’ first innings, Lions bowler Pat Brown took a hat-trick of 5 for 21 as they recovered from 55 for 4 to reach 214.
The Lions’ recovery in reply was also helped by opener Alex Davies’ 76 and Freddie McCann’s 51, but it was Flintoff, who turned 16 last April, who stole the show.
Flintoff earned a late call-up to the Lions tour after making a century for Lancashire’s second XI in April and then making his first-class debut in July.
