Rajshahi chose to bowl in the game and it looked like a sound decision when Dhaka were 0 for 22 after four overs. But Tanzid took 21 from Sunzamul Islam and Dhaka never looked back. At the end of this over, in the fifth over, Litton was 9 for 10 but went on to the next over, the last of the Powerplay, where he hit successive deliveries of 4, 6 and 4 off SM Meherob.
Litton was on 50 in the 9th over and hit 6 without balls. By the end of 10 overs, Dhaka were 115 for 0 and they kept going. Tanzid also finished 11th with a 50, including a six against Ryan Burl. Litton continued the pattern of both players setting boundaries as he reached his 100-run stand with Shafiul Islam’s four-opener in the 16th over. Tanzid completed the set in the final over, taking 100 off the first four balls before hitting Shafiul. He added six more and then holed out for 108 off 64 balls (6 fours, 8 sixes, strike rate 168.75).
By then, Dhaka had already held the record for the highest total in the BPL and the wicket did little to slow them down as Sabbir Rahman and Litton hit six more each to end the first innings on a brilliant 254 for 25.
In response, Rajshahi quickly wilted and fell to 34 for 5 before Ryan Burl’s unbeaten 47 prevented the inevitable. In the end, he hit 105 in the bottom of the 16th inning, falling 150 points short of his goal.
