After years of miserable ownership by the Glazers, Manchester United are in a precarious position with regard to their PSR situation which is preventing them from going all out in the January transfer window despite Ruben Amorim’s need for reinforcements.
The club is trying to bring in high earners like Casemiro and Antoni, but no concrete approach has been made so far and their sale will do little to alleviate the club’s difficulties.
This is why Ineos is considering changing jobs because the sales of academy graduates are pure profit. Marcus Rashford appears most likely to leave this transfer window after the Mancunian publicly revealed his desire for a new adventure.
There has been interest from around the world, but the England international is unwilling to leave Europe for the Middle East and MLS and has already turned down a number of lucrative offers.
Rashford’s future is expected to be decided this month
United’s new co-owners are unlikely to approve any of his suitors going to direct domestic rivals such as Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
Recent reports have suggested that AC Milan are on the far right with the Manchester United number 10 and his agent has scheduled a meeting with the Rossoneri on Wednesday.
However, as revealed by SPORT, the Englishman’s dream destination is Barcelona, with Milan now finding the favorite Catalan giants for his signature.
“Rashford did not want to respond to Milan’s offer and, as confirmed by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’, the Italian club practically gave up on signing the player due to the player’s desire to wear the Blaugrana.
“Milan have been awaiting a meeting Rashford’s brother and agent has had with Manchester United over the past few hours. They were to see if both the English club and the player had chosen the player to proceed on loan.
Barça in pole position
“But there has been no response and it is very clear in Italy that Rashford wants to go to Barca and is willing to wait until the market closes, despite United rushing to shoo him away.”
Barca boss Hansi Flick admires the 27-year-old for the United academy product’s versatility, allowing him to play both on the wing and up front.
Now either Rashford reduces his wage demands or United subsidizes his exit and the La Liga club gets down to business. They are trying to save on wages by agreeing to transfer players. Ansu Fati looks set to make way for the England striker.
Hopefully, the end of the loan will include a high purchase clause so United won’t have to think about moving either Alejandro Garnacho or Kobbie Mainoo next time.
