TL;DR
- DJI has launched its latest drone, the foldable Flip.
- The Flip supports 4K HDR video at 60FPS and can fly for over 30 minutes on a single charge.
- Lightweight carbon fiber guards keep your hands safe from the propeller blades.
CES 2025 may already be in the rearview mirror, but tech companies still have plenty of new gear ready to make their official debut. Perhaps the biggest name on the January list is Samsung. Unpacked has the Galaxy S25 launching next week, but today DJI is keeping the momentum going with the launch of its new vlogger camera drone, the DJI Flip.
DJI equipped the Flip with a 1/1.3-inch 48MP CMOS sensor that can shoot vivid 4K video in HDR at up to 60FPS. It’s even capable of 4K slow motion at 100FPS. Support for six AI-based shooting modes allows users to easily shoot on their own without additional assistance, while compatibility with DJI’s RC-N3 and RC 2 remotes provides a manual option for those who want additional control.
Perhaps the most exciting thing about the Flip is its incredibly compact size and travel-friendly design. The drone weighs a hair less than 250 grams, and its propellers are protected by an innovative guard featuring spoke-shaped protrusions that are actually carbon fiber braids. When it’s all folded up, you could easily mistake the DJI Flip for some sort of autonomous unicycle.
But make no mistake. This drone is small and uniquely built, yet fully functional. Flip can fly and shoot for over 30 minutes on a single charge, and with the Flip Parallel Charging Hub, which supports two batteries at once, you can easily always have a spare battery on hand to extend your sessions for longer.
android permissions I had a chance to try out the DJI Flip in person, and I was impressed by its sturdy build. The camera quality looked good and I felt safe flying indoors. Propeller guarding is an important job.
Sales for the DJI Flip are now live, and the drone retails for $439 with the standard RC-N3 controller, which uses your phone as a screen, or $639 with the RC2 controller, which includes its own display.
