New Delhi: Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan recently shared his personal experiences from his early cricketing journey. While interacting with children from underprivileged backgrounds, Dhawan spoke about his initial struggles in sports.
“I started playing for the club when I was young, practiced for a year, and within a year I was playing in competitions. For a year, I did various household chores including rolling the pitch, bringing tea to the coaches and being patient. At the end of the day, 10 “I spend a lot of time in the sun, hoping I can invest just a few minutes,” Dhawan said in a video.
Dhawan, who began his international touring in 2010, has established himself as an important player for the Indian cricket team, recognized for his aggressive batting style and engaging personality both on and off the cricket field.

His contribution was instrumental in securing numerous victories for India across various formats.
During his 13-year international career, Dhawan has amassed some impressive statistics. He has scored 2315 runs in 34 Tests, 6793 runs in 167 ODIs and 1579 runs in 68 T20Is.
Throughout his domestic career in the Indian Premier League, he represented Delhi Capitals (earlier Delhi Daredevils), Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, scoring 6769 runs in 222 matches, including two centuries and 51 half-centuries.
Dhawan announced his retirement from all formats of the game in August 2024, concluding his illustrious international cricket career.
