The Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake has been spotted sailing the high seas on the Ubisoft game designer’s LinkedIn page. This seems to be official confirmation that assassin/pirate Edward Kenway is returning.
MP1ST has discovered that a Ubisoft game designer has Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Remake (2024) listed on his profile. Surprisingly, this is the same developer who made the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake list.
Somewhat strangely, MP1ST didn’t include any screenshots of Elder Scrolls Remake information when he beat the story, but this time he included screenshots of the character’s pages, which include both Black Flag and Oblivion.
Apparently, the developer has since deleted his profile.
According to MP1ST, this page contains some details about the Black Flag remake. First, the game is being rebuilt on Ubisoft’s upgraded Anvil Engine. This is actually the same engine that the Assassin’s Creed series has used since day 1, but has changed significantly at this point.
Additionally, the remake will reportedly include “new systems.” Wildlife ecology and combat were specifically mentioned.
We already knew that Ubisoft was working on at least one Assassin’s Creed remake, with the company’s CEO Yves Guillemot publicly revealing this last year.
“First, players may be excited about some remakes. This allows us to revisit and modernize some of the games we’ve made in the past. There are still very rich worlds in some of our older Assassin’s Creed games,” the CEO said in an open letter addressing the company’s portfolio. “Secondly, to answer your question, there will be a lot of diversity in the experience. The goal is It’s about having Assassin’s Creed games released more regularly, but it doesn’t mean it’s going to be the same experience every year. There’s a lot of good stuff coming out of this game, including Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which we just announced. “It’s going to be a very different game than Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and I think we’re going to surprise people.”
Insider Gaming previously reported that the Black Flag remake was scheduled for a November 2025 release, and considering writer Tom Henderson, there seems to be a strong source inside the company whose information is likely solid. However, they noted at the time that these plans may have changed due to the delay of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. Since then, Shadows has been delayed again, perhaps pushing Black Flag further back.
