It’s been an open secret that Sony has a new triple-A studio in LA, but now a job listing has confirmed its existence. But which of the three secret studios is it?
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I’ll tell you quickly. A few months ago, we broke the news that Bungie’s Bridgett O’Neill was taking on the role of Chief Creative Director of PlayStation Studios. But even though she got a new job, she didn’t. According to her, Bungie Creative Studios joined PlayStation to build a foundation of creative teams that can support all PlayStation Live Service games.
I learned about other mystery teams through other job listings for 2022. Through this, we learned that Naughty Dog is teaming up with PlayStation Studios Visual Arts to form a new internal studio to work on new titles.

But in this case, the new LA studio mentioned in today’s job listing is probably related to Jason Blundell, formerly of Deviation Games. He left the company a few months before mass layoffs hit the company. Deviation will close its doors for the final time in March 2024. During his Deviation days, Blundell worked at Call of Duty, holding titles including Campaign Design Director for Black Ops 2 and Game Director for both Black’s campaign and Zombies modes. Operation 3.
In early 2024, rumors began to spread that Jason Blundell had been acquired by Sony and was leading a new studio working with Bungie to develop a new sci-fi action game. It was a few months before Bungie released Marathon to the world.

In December 2024, it was revealed that PlayStation’s newly hired game designer was working for Jason Blundell. Other former Deviation employees are also said to be working at Sony, leading people to wonder if Blundell and colleagues are setting up a new studio under Sony.
Here is a list of LA job openings: Project Senior ProducerIt refers to an unnamed LA studio.
“We are a newly established AAA studio based in Los Angeles, led by a team of seasoned industry leaders and experienced game developers.” Read the list. “Our mission is to create the next generation of groundbreaking AAA original IP while reimagining the development process with a lean, efficient approach. We’re looking for talented people who share our vision and join us on this journey. “
Unfortunately, the listing doesn’t provide any interesting information that can be gleaned about what the game is. The description of the game is vague, so it could be Bungie’s Marathon or something else entirely.
