Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), in an improbable move as the only Democrat in Congress with common sense, announced that he had accepted President-elect Donald Trump’s invitation to a meeting at Mar-a-Lago.
Fetterman’s rationale for the meeting is simple. He thinks it’s a reasonable conversation with the soon-to-be president. And, as he points out, his district is not comprised solely of Democrats.
“That’s the plan. Yes, we will have a conversation,” Fetterman told CBS News.
Fetterman added, “I think that person is either president or officially will be president.” “If the president wants to have a conversation or invite someone to a conversation, I think it’s pretty reasonable to have that conversation.”
“And no one is my gatekeeper,” the Democratic senator concluded.
It feels really good to hear what a Democratic member of Congress has to say.
John Fetterman goes to meet Trump
This move by Senator John Fetterman potentially puts him on a collision course with Democratic colleagues who may see it as a betrayal, or at least a significant departure from the party line.
While some of his colleagues plan to skip Trump’s inauguration, Fetterman will break bread with the man.
The Pennsylvania Democrat’s actions reflect his history of failing to live up to typical political expectations, which was also evident during his campaign, when he was known for his unique approach to politics.
Other evidence that Fetterman saw the light portion Is it important? Just a year ago, he called out his own party to warn Americans concerned about the border crisis against the party claiming it was motivated by racism.
“I hope Democrats understand that worrying about the border is not xenophobic. “This is a reasonable conversation, and the Democratic Party must participate,” he said.
Fetterman recently co-sponsored the Laken Riley bill in the Senate, over opposition from Senate Democrats. Now he is meeting Biden’s successor with an open mind.

Guess what promise he wants?
Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman also made headlines with his recent comments about visiting Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Even after the upsetting visit to colleagues, Fetterman said he would seek the president-elect’s appointment.
“I demand to be the Pope of Greenland,” he joked.

It’s amazing how far he’s come. From “Hello… Good night everyone!” to “I demand to be Pope.”
Can the Pope wear a hoodie over his vestments? Is there a zucchetto on the planet that would fit Fetterman’s expansive dome?
The memes resulting from the senator’s remarks circulating on social media were alarming.
