Baku, Azerbaijan, January 10. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has relaxed requirements for local banks to participate in foreign exchange auctions, a trend report said.
This issue is reflected in the amendments to the “Regulations on the purchase and sale of foreign currency between central banks and interbanks” approved by Decree No. 49/2 of 15 November 2022, prepared by the CBA Management Committee.
In this regard, CBA Governor Taleh Kazimov signed a new decision.
According to the decision, banks that violated reserve requirements during the previous storage period will now be able to participate in currency auctions.
Previously, participating in currency auctions required not violating these conditions.
The Legal and Organizational Department of the CBA was instructed to submit this decision to the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan within three days for inclusion in the State Legal Register.
