Nintendo and Lego have announced their next collaboration: A Lego Game Boy.
“Build classic Nintendo systems in LEGO form,” Nintendo said Thursday in an announcement that included a teaser video for the LEGO set and an October release date.
Game Boy is the second Lego set based on a Nintendo game console, but the first Lego set based on a handheld gaming console.
LEGO NES was released in August 2020 for $229.99 / £209.99. The set includes a 1980s-style TV set with a brick-built NES model, complete with scrolling Super Mario Bros. scenes.
Nintendo has also released Lego sets based on various gaming franchises, including Super Mario, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda, and Mario Kart.
Last year, it released a Lego set based on the Super Nintendo game Super Nintendo World. This was followed by the LEGO Legend of Zelda: Great Deku Tree set.
There are two designs in the Deku Tree set. The first recreates the appearance of the Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, while the other is based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. After years of fan requests, this was the first LEGO Legend of Zelda set.
