ALBUQUERQUE, NM – New Mexico United is pleased to announce that forward Marlon Vargas will return to the club for the 2025 USL Championship season. Vargas joined the Black & Yellow on loan in September 2024 and has been a significant contributor for New Mexico. His return would see him sign a full contract with the club rather than going on loan.
Vargas appeared in eight games for New Mexico in 2024, and seemed to improve with each game as the club moved closer to the postseason and looked to secure a top seed in the USL Championship Western Conference. His chance creation on the wing was excellent, culminating in the regular season finale, when he scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute against Memphis 901 FC.
Before coming to New Mexico, Vargas spent two seasons with the Colorado Rapids II of MLS Next Pro.
