Manchester United have lost three in a row in the Premier League, conceding seven goals but failing to score in any of the games.
The Red Devils remain in 14th place and have scored fewer goals than relegation favorites Leicester City this season.
The 2-0 loss to Newcastle saw Ruben Amorim come on as a substitute for Joshua Zirkzy in the 33rd minute, but while he could have done the same to Rasmus Hoslund, the Dane was not yet ready to lead United .
His summer move from Bologna was heartbreaking after his coach’s ruthless request was made, and three Serie A clubs are interested and if United make a decent offer, they could take it up.
Manchester United need an elite scorer
Marcus Rashford has not made a first team appearance for five games now and has already expressed his desire to leave his boyhood club.
However, no concrete offer has been forthcoming due to his price tag and hefty wages, but the 20-time English league champions are open to both Amorim as he looks to free up funds to use to help the club out of its current predicament.
And the manager has already called for INEOS to try and secure the signature of Victor Gyocerres from Sporting Lisbon. Even though he promised not to sign anyone from his former club in the winter.
But the promise was destined to be broken. Especially with United facing relegation with all their forwards underperforming.
The Daily Star claims Sporting chairman Frederico Varandas will ask Old Trafford to pay the full £80m release clause to sign him mid-season.
“United manager Ruben Amorim has told club bosses they cannot wait until the summer to sign Gyokeres, they need to sign him now.
“The 26-year-old now has a release clause worth £80m in his contract. And Sporting president Frederico Varandas is understood to demand the full amount from United if Gyoceres decides to leave mid-season.
Amorim wants Gyokeres now.
“This news has put some of Europe’s biggest clubs at risk and is expected to spark a mad scramble to sign him. However, the fact that United have appointed the player’s former Sporting manager Amorim would make them one of the favorites to sign Gyokeres.”
This is the only possible option if multiple player sales occur. In addition to the current forward duo, Casemiro is also ready for a move and could bring significant money to the club.
Gyokeres has scored 27 goals and also provided 6 assists in as many games. He was on fire when Amorim took command, but his form has since declined.
And he wants to reunite with the coach who got the best out of him in the past, and United could really do with the ruthless finisher looking to climb the table again.
