Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci on Monday urged Elon Musk to move away from politics and focus on successful business.
“Go on with your business. You have done a great job. “You’ve made hundreds of billions of dollars since the election.” Scaramucci said in CNN’s ‘The Situation Room’ interview with Wolf Blitzer, explaining the advice he gave Musk.
“Take a little gas off on politics because these people, these people, can do you harm. And you don’t have to get hurt. You are doing very well in life,” Scaramucci continued.
Scaramucci, who briefly worked in the Trump administration but has since become an outspoken critic, noted Musk’s outsized role in the 2024 election but said he did not expect Musk to have the same power in Washington.
“Listen. He has a very powerful role. He has a megaphone worth $44 billion. He has over 200 million followers, and Wolf played a major role in that election,” Scaramucci said. “I think what Elon Musk did in Pennsylvania helped the president win that election. “So the voice is very loud.”
But Scaramucci said that while Musk may be expected to “go to Washington and change it,” he may not find the success he hopes to find.
“He has to be very careful because he’s making enemies that he doesn’t realize,” Scaramucci said of Musk. “And the incentives in Washington are completely different from the incentives in business. So everyone is incentivized in different and sometimes irrational ways.”
“And given the power he wields now, I think Washington has a great immune system and they will find a way to counter him,” Scaramucci said.
