The Montreal Roses announced the signing of Canadian forward Tanya Boychuk on Thursday.
Boychuk joins the Northern Super League side after leading Swedish club Vittsjö GIK with seven goals in Sweden’s top league, Damallsvenskan, this year.
The 24-year-old from Edmonton also played for Trothur Reykjavik FC in Iceland’s top league in 2023.
Boychuk played college soccer at the University of Memphis, where he was twice selected to the AAC All-Conference First Team (2020-2021, 2021) and was a team captain.
Internationally, Wojchuk, who is 5-foot-7, earned his first call-up to Canada’s senior team in 2022 but has not played a single game.
She also represented Canada at the 2018 and 2020 U-20 CONCACAF Championships, scoring five goals in eight games.
“Tanya is a passionate and positive player. We were impressed by her powerful attacking experience, keen goal-scoring instincts and impeccable work ethic,” sporting director Marinette Pichon said in a statement. “As an experienced striker, she knows how to position herself perfectly in the box and convert even the most difficult opportunities into goals.
“With her determination and flair for crucial moments, we are confident in her ability to reclaim her reputation as the ‘fox in the box’ and play a key role in the success of the Montreal Roses.”

Boychuk also grew up to be a successful diver. She won two bronze medals at the 2015 Junior Pan American Games, reaching the podium in the 1-meter event and the 3-meter synchronized event.
Her signing comes after Roses FC signed hometown forward Latifah Abdu on Tuesday.
“I decided to join the Northern Super League because I want to be part of history and contribute to meaningful change,” Wojchuk said. “My goal is to help grow women’s soccer not only in Canada but around the world.
“I can’t wait to embark on this new adventure and continue to evolve with my passionate and visionary team.”
The club signed veteran French international defensive midfielder Charlotte Bilbault and Canadian goalkeeper Gabrielle Lambert as its first players in October.
Montreal joins Vancouver Rise FC, Ottawa Rapids FC, Halifax Tides FC, Calgary Wild FC and AFC Toronto in the new Canadian Professional League starting next spring.
