December 21, 2024 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Press Release
ALLEN, Texas – The Dallas Sidekicks handed the previously undefeated Milwaukee Wave their first loss of the season Saturday night at the Texas Credit Union Events Center.
After a rough start to the season at 0-2, the Sidekicks had a strong showing. Just one minute into the game, Oscar Romero scored the first goal with an assist from his older brother Yahir Romero.
Three minutes later, center Romero’s brother Esai found the back of the net to extend the lead. Late in the first quarter, Kyle Crain answered the wave to bring the score to 2-1.
In the second quarter, the Wave tied the game at 2-2 on a goal by Alex Sanchez. Despite momentum from both sides, the score remained deadlocked until half-time.
Like the second quarter, the action was slow to unfold. But the Sidekicks broke through late with back-to-back goals from Kristian Quintana and Colin O’Keefe to end the quarter with a 4-2 lead.
In the fourth quarter, the Wave cut the lead to one point on a power play goal by Derek Huffman. With just over three minutes remaining, Milwaukee pulled goalkeeper William Banahene for the final score. Jamie Lovegrove punished Gamble with back-to-back empty-net goals to increase the Sidekicks’ lead to 6-3. With just seconds left, Esai Romero sealed the win with his second goal of the night, giving Dallas a decisive 7-3 victory.
The Sidekicks will face the Milwaukee Wave in their next two games in Milwaukee on December 28th and December 31st. They will then return home to take on the Harrisburg Heat on Saturday, January 4th. Tickets are on sale now at DallasSidekicks.com/Tickets.
