India World Cup winner Ashish Nehra praised Jasprit Bumrah. His outstanding performance in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 surprised everyone.
Bumrah displayed a superb eight-wicket haul and commendable leadership. His incredible leadership led India to a resounding 295-run win in Perth. Nehra said that even INR 520 crore would not be enough to match Bumrah’s worth.
“The way Bumrah led the team (in Perth) after a 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand at home was absolutely brilliant. You can’t beat Jassi! If Bumrah had been in the auction, anything would have happened Even $520 million would not have been enough for an IPL team,” Nehra told Star Sports.
Nehra highlighted Bumrah’s ability to stand up under pressure, especially in Rohit’s absence.
Despite the additional responsibility, Bumrah remained calm. He showcased his bowling skills smoothly under pressure.
The Gujarat Titan coach exclaimed: “As a bowler, Jasprit Bumrah has done this (taking a wicket to win a match) many times. Rohit Sharma is not playing and is captaining the team in the first match of the tour. Naturally, there must be additional pressure. But the way Bumrah handled the pressure is very commendable,” Nehra added.

Impact on IPL auction speculations, Nehra further speculated on Bumrah’s IPL auction value.
Mumbai Indians retained him for INR 18 crore, the highest among any player, but Nehra believes his value is unmatched. Bumrah won the ‘Player of the match’ award for his remarkable performance.
