VGC is currently accepting entries for our book’s Letters page this weekend.
If you missed the news last month, VGC is releasing its first book, The 2025 Guide to Video Games. VGC Patreon members can pre-order now with an exclusive discount.
Inspired by classic gaming magazines of the past, the book includes separate news, previews and reviews sections and a special cover by Wil Overton, the much-loved illustrator of many iconic British magazines such as Super Play and N64 Magazine. Art included.
Because we draw inspiration from magazines, we also plan to include a letters section in the book where readers can send us their thoughts on all topics in video games.
VGC backers have been given the first opportunity to submit letters about the book, and there’s space for just a few more, so if you’d like a chance to have your name on the book, please send us a ‘letter’ (e.g. email). Send it to chris.scullion@videogameschronicle.com with the subject header “Book Letter.”
There is no set length, but longer letters are better because long letters can be cut to fit the page, but short letters cannot be stretched. We feel much less comfortable putting words in our mouths than getting them out!
Disclaimer: As was the case with magazines of the time, we cannot guarantee that we will print every letter we receive, nor promise that we will not be a little sarcastic when we reply. A book (considering it was inspired by the early 90s).
Most know VGC for its online news, but many of our writers come from a print background when gaming magazines filled newsstand shelves and have written for places like CVG, Official Nintendo Magazine, and PC Zone.
Physical media is dear to our hearts, so when publisher Pen & Sword presented us with the opportunity to create a VGC book, we naturally jumped at the opportunity.
When released early next year VGC: Your 2025 Video Game Guide It will provide you with a compendium of the best work of the year, presented in a physical hardcover book designed to be collected and archived.
VGC: More information about our 2025 video game guide will be shared closer to release, currently scheduled for February 2025.
However, you can now pre-order the book from the publisher Pen & Sword Books or other online bookstores, including Amazon UK and Amazon US. More retailers will add this book as we get closer to release.
