Marc Guehi returns to Chelsea.
Journalist Graeme Bailey said of Guehi’s return to Chelsea:
“Guehi is someone people like and he’s high on the list. Palace have a problem. The January deal is not what Guehi is pursuing.
“He has a year left on his contract next summer and would be a very attractive offer for one of the top six players. He is definitely one to watch. We know Chelsea like him and Chelsea are keen to upgrade their options behind Fofana and Colwill.”
I know the sources here aren’t highly rated, but I’m mentioning Guehi because he’s a name we keep using as a centre-back target. SPTC So there’s still something left. And Chelsea want to sign a new centre-back.
With Guehi entering the final year of his contract in the summer of 2025, there may also be an opportunity for Crystal Palace to sign him a little cheaper than they were previously asking for.
Chelsea have the right to match any offer accepted by Palace. That means the decision will come down to the player, who will also have to accept Chelsea’s offer. There are many clubs interested in him, so we expect offers to come in soon.
Would he want to come back to Chelsea? I actually think he would be quite attractive if only given a first-team guarantee.
I love Guehi and I think he will bring a lot of what we need, especially in leadership and organization. I’m not sure he’d be the best choice for us, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it at all.
