It’s been a tough year for the defending national champions, but the Wolverines got some good news on Thursday. Bryce Underwood, the nation’s No. 1 recruit and quarterback — a 6-foot-4, 205-pound 17-year-old athlete — announced he is switching his commitment from LSU to Michigan.
After being with the Tigers for almost a year, this move sent shock waves through the college football recruiting world. But football legend and Michigan native Tom Brady predicted it would happen.
According to program sources, the best part of Underwood’s pledge to the Wolverines is that Brady has participated in multiple Zoom meetings with Underwood and has been a great resource for the young QB.
Underwood grew up a Michigan fan and is from Belleville, Michigan, just 20 minutes from Ann Arbor. Wolverines coach Sharon Moore preaches and recruits based on the principle, “Michigan’s best players go to Michigan.”
But former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh didn’t really seem interested in pursuing Underwood like other top programs. Not long after Harbaugh left for the Los Angeles Chargers’ top job in January, Sean Magee returned to Ann Arbor after a stint in the Chicago Bears front office to become Michigan’s general manager.
And Magee and Moore made Underwood their top priority.
Yes sir! Michigan’s best player, go to Michigan!! #ProcessOverPrize25 #high blue🔵

The two worked for months to repair their relationship with the star QB. Things really started to take off this week when Underwood spent two days at Michigan State and felt very comfortable with the direction the program was currently taking.
Less than a year removed from a national championship, the Wolverines are currently 5-5 and out of playoff contention.
“Everyone thinks we’re going to hand over eight figures for this kid, but that’s not true,” the source said.

Now that the Wolverines have their QB of the future, expect them to make a lot more noise on the recruiting front with the early signing period less than two weeks away.
