like Moana 2 There’s new information about a separate live-action adaptation just a few inches closer to us.
Yes, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to join executive producer to bring the role of Maui to life. Newcomer Catherine Laga’aia will play the lead role, and original voice actor Auli’i Cravalho will also serve as executive producer. The movie is scheduled to be released in July 2026.
Now, new paparazzi photos from Hawaii have emerged. You can see Dwayne and Catherine as well as the floral outline of Moana’s boat.
A clearer image of Dwayne also shows the actor in full costume (wearing sunglasses).
Dwayne previously said Maui was partly inspired by his late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia. He explained, “That’s how deep this story is to me, because in a way, when I’m bringing Maui to life, I’m doing it in the spirit of my grandfather.”
