Corey Lewandowski, a senior adviser to President-elect Trump’s campaign, said the president-elect will unveil his administration’s economic policies next week.
“However, next week the President’s team will form an economic team that includes the National Economic Adviser and the Economic Advisory Committee. “This week was Homeland Security week, and you probably saw that.” Lewandowski said Friday during an appearance on NewsNation’s show “The Hill.”
Lewandowski’s comments come as President Trump announced a slew of nominees for his administration this week. Some of the moves shocked Washingtonians, including the nominations of former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) as attorney general and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) as director of national intelligence (DNI). Trump also chose Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Fox News host and veteran Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) was nominated as Secretary of State, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (Republican) was nominated as Secretary of the Interior.
Lewandowski confirmed in the interview that Square Group founder Scott Bessent and Cantor Fitzgerald Chairman and CEO Howard Lutnick, who also co-chaired Trump’s transition team, are the most likely candidates to become the next Treasury secretary. The president-elect emphasized that he is looking for a candidate who will maintain low interest rates.
“Well, someone who understands how to get our country and our economy moving again, making sure we don’t have high interest rates, and bringing profit and value to manufacturing in this country rather than overseas. ‘ said Lewandowski.
“So what we see in both candidates is that they both have extensive experience on Wall Street. “Both of them are recognized as experts in their respective fields,” he added.
Bessent recently received support from Senator Lindsey Graham (R.S.C.), a Trump supporter. State Sen. Palmetto called him an “excellent” choice.
