On the night of November 15-16, 2024, we will see a supermoon that is more than just a beautiful sight. This is an event that many consider to be mysteriously unusual. why? The full moon in Taurus will bring an energy of change and spontaneity. This event is also called the ‘Beaver Full Moon’, meaning it’s time to prepare for the long, cold winter.
What is a supermoon and how is it different from a full moon?
First of all, both phenomena differ in the distance and apparent size of the Earth and the Moon. A supermoon occurs when the full moon coincides with perigee, which is when the moon is in its orbital position closest to Earth. This distance is shorter than a typical full moon. The moon is closer to Earth so it appears bigger and brighter. Typically, it can appear 14% larger and 30% brighter than a regular full moon. A supermoon is therefore simply a more impressive version of a full moon that occurs due to the moon’s orbital features.
