- A community of teens is rallying around family.
The New Zealand rugby club is in shock after youngster Brook Wilson died following a medical incident while warming up for a touch footy match.
The popular 18-year-old died suddenly on November 5 while preparing for a match at Woodend Rugby Club in North Canterbury.
The tragedy has shocked the community, which has been supporting the Wilson family.
The local quiz team Brook was part of organized an event in his honour, and Brook’s friend Dylan Schaare said the quiz would be dedicated to him and his heartbroken family.
Woodd Rugby Club president Mark Patterson posted a message on social media about the sadness felt by club members.
“We offer our sincere condolences to Brooke’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Patterson said.

‘We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their help and support at this moment.’
Brooke’s father Tony said the family was overwhelmed by the support they had received.
‘We were amazed by the community spirit and people’s willingness to help,’ he told Stuff.
‘I can’t believe how popular he has become.’
Kaiapoi High School Acting Principal Scott Liddell also paid tribute to Brook.
“Our staff and students remember Brooke as someone who lived life to the fullest and a boy who had a loyal group of peers who rallied together during these difficult times,” Liddell said.
‘We send our condolences to Brooke’s extended family at this time which has taken him so far from his bright future.’
The teenager’s funeral will be held in Rangiora on Thursday.
