Republican pollster Frank Luntz told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl on Sunday that whoever “told” Vice President Harris to focus on former President Trump during the presidential campaign “committed political malpractice.”
“We all know who Trump is,” Luntz said. “We’ve experienced him for four years. Whoever told her to focus on him was committing political malpractice. That person, it was all about her.”
Vice President Harris lost the 2024 presidential election to President-elect Trump earlier this week. Trump carried seven important battleground states in this year’s election, including six states that President Biden won in 2020.
Luntz also said that for men, Trump was “their voice” in this year’s election.
“The men felt ignored, forgotten, and even unimportant,” Luntz said Sunday. “And in the end, the Democratic Party must protect both. “It is not enough to capture female votes,” he said.
“These middle-class, middle-class, moderate men, we call them ‘cubes,’ they are the core of every election and they felt betrayed by her,” he continued.
An ABC News exit poll found that Trump led Harris by a wide margin among voters who said a candidate’s ability to lead and “bring change” were the most important qualities in their vote.
Trump also made notable gains among Latino men this year, with 55% of them choosing the president-elect, compared with 59% four years ago, according to CNN exit polls.
