Salahuddin previously served as assistant and defense coach for Bangladesh under Dav Whatmore and Jamie Siddons. He also worked as a professional coach at the BCB National Cricket Academy from 2010 to 2011 before becoming Singapore’s head coach in 2014. He holds ACC-Cricket Australia Level 3 certification.
Salahuddin is also highly regarded by most players in Bangladesh, having started coaching at a young age by developing players such as Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal. He also influences the growth of current cricketers like Jaker Ali and Mahidul Islam Ankon.
BCB president Faruque Ahmed said Salahuddin had chosen a number of conditions for the role. In his first press conference as chairman of the board, Faruque said he was in favor of promoting the Bangladesh coach.
“When I took on the role of BCB president, I promised to provide qualified candidates with the opportunity to contribute to the formation of the national team,” he said. “Salahuddin’s wealth of experience, pedigree and knowledge makes him the ideal candidate for this role. I strongly believe that it is time to integrate more talented Bangladeshi coaches into the system.”
