Stellantis is recalling 33,777 Ram 1500 pickup trucks to replace damaged front wheel bearing hub encoder rings, an essential component of the vehicle’s steering system. According to a notice posted Wednesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the damaged parts were the result of poor handling prior to vehicle assembly, not pre-existing defects.
Fiat Chrysler (now part of Stellantis) stated, “Some 2025 MY Ram 1500 vehicles may have a damaged front wheel bearing encoder ring, which may result in loss of the wheel speed signal (WSS) and disable electronic stability control (ESC).” Document published by NHTSA.
“Failure of the ESC system in situations where intervention is expected or relied upon could result in a vehicle crash without prior warning,” the automaker said.
This recall applies to certain 2025 MY Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between October 13, 2023 and August 11, 2024.
To correct the problem, dealers will inspect and replace the affected trucks’ front wheel bearing hub assemblies free of charge, according to Chrysler. Owner notices will be mailed on December 19, 2024.
