The exact amount registered by the five players is not yet known, but INR 51 crore will be deducted from the LSG purse as per the reserve amount arranged by the IPL. If the total amount paid to the five teams exceeds INR 5.1 billion, the higher amount will be deducted from the INR 12 billion purse provided to each franchise to form a team for IPL 2025.
It is understood that Pooran will have the highest retention rate after Mayank and Bishnoi. In 2024, Pooran was just behind Rahul in the run charts and acted as interim captain and wicketkeeper during the first half after Rahul sat out due to a nagging injury.
Mayank has won two man-of-the-match awards in his first two IPL matches in 2024, clocking speeds of over 150 kph. Although he was limited to just four appearances due to side strain, the national selectors were quick to add him to their quick list. A fast bowling contract was signed. Mayank, who was bought by LSG for INR 20 lakhs in the 2024 auction, has played only seven matches, all in T20s. Following four matches in the IPL, he recently made his international debut in the T20 series against Bangladesh. Mayank is currently based at BCCI’s newly opened Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Bishnoi was one of the three players selected by LSG ahead of IPL 2022 for a massive auction for INR 4 crore. Because he was an unrestricted player at the time. When LSG qualified for the playoffs in 2022, Bishnoi took 13 wickets at 8.44. A year later, Bishnoi, now an international, took 16 wickets at 7.74, placing him 13th in the list of leading wicket-takers, and played a key role in helping LSG qualify for the playoffs once again. But last season he took just 10 wickets in 14 matches at 8.77.
Badoni and Mohsin, who were purchased for INR 20 lakhs each in the 2022 auction, have played an integral role in LSG’s success. An aggressive middle-of-the-field hitter, Badoni’s best season came in 2023, when he allowed 238 runs in 12 innings with a 138 strikeout rate. He also recently participated in India A’s Emerging Series.
