Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — Yin Ruoning entered the final round in a three-way tie for the lead and shot a 7-under 65 on Sunday to win the LPGA Tour’s Maybank Championship in Malaysia by one stroke for her second win this month.
China’s Yin made a safe two-putt on the last hole and recorded 265 strokes, 23 under par. She lost in the second-longest playoff in LPGA tour history, beating Thai player Gino Titicul (66), who also finished runner-up in last year’s tournament.
Yin won by a dominant six strokes at the LPGA Shanghai earlier this month, and teamed up with TT Cool to win the Dow Championship in June.
“I had a really great year last year. I was wondering if I could win again and what if I couldn’t,” Yin said. “But I think I really learned here that you just have to have fun. Having fun and being happy is what I do.”
Korea’s Ryu Hye-ran shot 67, two strokes behind Eum. America’s Bailey Tardy, who recorded the round’s highest score of 65, and Sweden’s Maya Starck (70), the second-round leader, tied for fourth place with 16 under par 272.
Hannah Green, who won her third title in 2024 and sixth overall in Korea last week, also took sixth place with a score of 65 at 15 under par 273. 68), Hyejin Choi (66).
Defending champion Celine Boutier of France shot a 72 and was tied for 12th, 11 strokes behind Yin.
