Dwyane Wade kicked off his “Statues Are Forever” weekend in a big way last night by celebrating with his wife Gabrielle Union and his kids at the Queen Miami Beach.
Arriving in style, Wade gave James Bond a sleek Aston Martin DBX707 with Union on his arm. The power couple turned heads in custom black tie looks by FWRD, perfectly setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.
The guest list was star-studded, with friends, family and some of Wade’s former teammates flocking to the lavish venue for a Bond-worthy hideaway complete with “003” themed cocktails and décor reminiscent of Wade’s iconic Heat jersey. It has been transformed.
Once inside, the man of the hour took center stage as the unmistakable Bond theme song began playing in the background.
Holding his champagne glass high, Wade addressed the crowd with a toast. “This is the start of the ‘Statues Are Forever’ weekend. What we are about to embark on is something we have never experienced before. If you have a glass, raise it.”
One of the highlights of the night was Wade dancing with his 5-year-old daughter Kaavia James, affectionately known to fans as “Shady Baby.” The audience watched mesmerized by the sweet moves of the father and daughter duo.
Wade’s older children, Zaire, 22, Zaya, 17, and his nephew Dahveon Morris, 21, were also in attendance to support him, and they all cheered on their father and uncle as they embraced this unforgettable milestone.
Wade’s big weekend has been almost a year in the making, and he admits the reality of it all still feels surreal.
“I’ve been trying to think about it since I was told a statue would be erected to me, and I don’t think any answer I can come up with would reflect how I feel,” Wade told the Miami Herald. “I don’t even know if it’s going to hit me right away.”
The unveiling of Wade’s statue on Sunday will be the finale to a weekend of celebrations honoring his legacy as a Miami sports icon and his lasting impact on fans around the world.
