The undefeated Lions cruised to victory against the Dragons in a United Rugby Championship match at Rodney Parade on Sunday.
Nico Steyn and Sanele Nohamba combined for 13 points as the Lions began their overseas tour with a 23-19 win at Newport to move into third place in the overall standings.
The Lions dominated territory and possession in the first half, going into the break leading 13-12 after hooker Franco Marais received a yellow card and survived late pressure from the Dragons.
The teams traded tries after the restart before a scoreless final quarter ended and the undefeated Lions celebrated their fourth win.
The Lions’ two electric tries came through fullback Quan Horn and flanker Jarrod Cairns, while flyhalf Nico Steyn converted two penalties and a conversion before substitute playmaker Sanele Nohamba added another conversion and penalty.
For the Dragons, Welsh gangster Taine Basham crossed twice and was joined by teammate Harrison Keddie. Flyhalf Lloyd Evans hit two of his three tee shots.
The Lions continue their tour when they face Zebre in Parma, while the Dragons host Benetton at Rodney Parade on Saturday.
