Trent Alexander-Arnold has been called up to the England squad for the October international break, but many of his Liverpool teammates have been overlooked.
The Three Lions will play two UEFA Nations League matches in Greece at Wembley and Finland in Helsinki on October 10 and 13 respectively.
Carsley looks set to continue his role as interim manager, taking over duties following Gareth Southgate’s resignation following the Euros.
There were hopes of a more lucrative selection for Liverpool players who served under Carsley at U21 level, but so far that has not proven to be the case.
Alexander-Arnold is again the only Reds representative this month, with Curtis Jones overlooked and Harvey Elliott out of contention due to injury.
Joe Gomez is also absent, along with Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton, who are likely to be included in the U21 squad announced on Friday.
Carsley brought Dominic Solanke back to the England squad for the first time since November 2017 when he was at Liverpool.
James Maddison, Jarrod Bowen and Harry Maguire are among those left out.
Liverpool’s number 66 looks set to be a key player under Carsley, who has featured in both games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland so far.
He did so in his natural right-back role after Southgate experimented with him in midfield during the Euros, when Alexander-Arnold was unfairly made the scapegoat.
Jones, meanwhile, was Carsley’s favorite when he was eligible for the U21s, but his failure to break into Arne Slot’s first-choice XI at Liverpool has led to his omission so far.
