Richard Simmons‘ A woman who worked as Richard’s longtime housekeeper has filed a petition to become co-trustee of Richard’s estate. She claims Richard’s brother pressured her to turn down the role while she was still mourning the fitness icon’s death.
Teresa Levels Muro — She worked with Richard for nearly 40 years and claims to be the person who discovered his body in July — filed the petition Wednesday. Days after Richard’s death, she claimed to be Richard’s sister. LeonardAnd Leonard’s wife Cash I went to see his body.
It was then, she said, that Leonard and Cathy took her to the office of the attorney handling the trust, where she signed a document resigning from her role as co-trustee.
Teresa claims that at the time she did not understand what she was signing, but felt pressured when told that a mistake in the paperwork could jeopardize her right to inherit under the trust… and that she later received a letter telling her that she would no longer have a significant say in the handling of Richard’s estate.
She said no one she met told her exactly what turning down the position would mean or advised her to consult her lawyer.
After consulting with an attorney, she now wants to regain her powers as co-trustee of the estate with Leonard… arguing that she is best positioned to carry out Simmons’ final wishes.
Muro’s attorneys said they have contacted the law firm handling the trust several times since late July, but have not received specific explanation as to why Leonard would not agree to Muro’s objection and appoint her as co-trustee in accordance with Richard’s wishes.
She asked the court to appoint her co-trustee and to prevent Leonard from selling Richard’s assets or using his name, image or likeness until a judge rules in accordance with her request.
