September 24, Dushanbe, Tajikistan. According to a trend report, Tajikistan and Iran have discussed the transportation of crude oil needed for Tajikistan’s refinery.
According to Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, Tajikistan’s Energy Minister Dalar Juma and Iran’s Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi held talks on the issue.
The two sides also exchanged views on international initiatives addressing water and climate issues in Tajikistan, the importance of the Logun hydroelectric power plant to the region, and projects to connect Tajikistan to the integrated energy system of Central Asia.
Juma and Aliabadi are co-chairs of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Tajikistan and Iran, which focuses on trade-economic, technical, scientific and cultural cooperation. They also discussed the current status and prospects of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, in February, Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development Zabki Zabkizoda announced that Azerbaijan’s SOCAR state oil company would support the supply of raw materials and the start of construction of the Tajik oil refinery “TK-Oil” located in the Dangara Free Economic Zone. Tajikistan is also discussing oil supplies with Tatarstan’s Tatneft oil company.
