KL Rahul sent back Mushfiqur Rahim with a superb diving catch in the second innings of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (September 21).
When Rahim came out to bat, India were clearly in control, but he had to be dismissed early to avoid an unexpected comeback by Bangladesh. One of the most experienced batsmen in the world, Rahim scored a brilliant 191 in the recent Rawalpindi Test, helping Bangladesh record their first ever Test win over Pakistan.
But the former Bangladesh captain could not replicate his performance against India due to the excellent performance of KL Rahul, who was out in the 34th over by veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
In the fourth ball of the over, Rahim danced down the track to attack the Indian spin spearhead. He drove but failed to keep the shot on the ground as he hit the ball towards mid-on.
The ball was much shorter than KL Rahul and Rahim looked safe. But KL Rahul timed his dive perfectly and took a superb catch. Rahim scored 13 runs from 11 balls and left with a century and a four.

At the end of the third day, Bangladesh were 158/4, chasing an incredible target of 515 runs. The umpires had to stop play early due to poor lighting. With two days left to play, Team India will be looking to register a comfortable win and take an unshakable lead in the two-match series.
For Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten at stumps with 51 runs and was joined by Shakib Al Hasan. The tourists will be hoping their captain and former captain can put in a good performance on Day 4.
Early on Day 3, India declared their second innings at 287/4. India posted a big total thanks to centuries from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. Gill remained unbeaten on 119 while Pant made 109. In the first innings, India scored 376 and Bangladesh were all out on 149.
