“Is this heat wave just a coincidence, or a sign of things to come?”
“It rained so much this month! Is this normal?”
To help you stay informed, MSN Weather has introduced a new system that tracks unusual weather trends in your area and alerts you when they become severe.
MSN Weather’s new Climate Insights Engine tracks temperature, precipitation, humidity, and wind around the world using up to 70 years of detailed historical weather data. The engine compares local weather to historical trends to determine how unusual recent weather has been. When something unusual happens, the system sends alerts to provide information about your local climate.
Here are some examples of what the new engine can tell you:
- “Temperatures this month are 4.5 degrees below normal for the region.”
- “It’s been 35 days since your location recorded measurable precipitation. This is the second longest continuous precipitation streak on record.”
- And… MSN Weather’s most popular new insights are called ‘Trenbusters.’‘: “It’s been 65 days since the temperature rose above 11 degrees Celsius, a new record for the area, but it looks like that record will be broken on Tuesday!”
The new Climate Insights Engine is a perfect fit for the MSN Weather Trends page that debuted last winter, allowing users to view monthly and yearly records and track recent weather trends in their area. The Insights Engine proactively notifies you when significant trends and records occur, while the Trends page provides an engaging and useful tool for exploring in-depth information about climate patterns in your area.
MSN Weather’s new Climate Insights Alerts feature would not be possible without MSN Weather’s AI-enhanced weather forecasting capabilities, which are the foundation of Microsoft’s global weather products. *MSN Weather has consistently been recognized for: world Leading forecast accuracy.
