TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays acquired catcher Tyler Heinemann off waivers from the Boston Red Sox on Monday and designated fellow catcher Brian Serven as a designated target.
Heineman has had two brief stints with the Blue Jays over the past two years and spent most of this season at Triple-A Worcester.

The 33-year-old from Pacific Palisades, Calif., made his major league debut with the Miami Marlins in 2019. He appeared in 10 games for the Blue Jays in 2022 and 19 games for Toronto last year.

Heinemann has appeared in two games for the Red Sox this season. He has appeared in 106 major league games overall with the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Marlins, San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Serven, 29, has appeared in 28 games for Toronto this season, hitting .159 with three RBIs.
