Baku, Azerbaijan, September 14. “The Baku circuit is one of my favourite tracks on the Formula 1 calendar,” Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc said at a press conference on the second day of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, according to Trend.
Leclerc, who has taken pole position in Baku for four consecutive years, has never won here but said he wanted to change that experience this year.
“This is one of my favourite circuits. I thought this weekend would be tough after crashing in the first practice session, but my confidence was unshaken because I knew we had a good pace,” he said.
In the second practice, a problem with a new car component caused the team to waste 30 minutes in the garage. In the last run, Leclerc took some risks and recorded a great lap.
“The car was really good, everything went well and I’m really happy to get pole position. Ferrari started first and third, so I hope to work together tomorrow to win,” said Leclerc.
Tomorrow, September 15, is the final day of the Azerbaijan Formula 1 Grand Prix.
